What is Filipino United Network?

Known for its cheerful acronym, FUN, the Filipino United Network, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt Foundation, incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virgina, on March 19, 2008 is a benevolent humanitarian organization and an advocacy group, compose of Filipino leaders overseas from various professions, including medicine and allied healthcare, law, business, engineering, architecture, arts and sciences, socio-civic, etc. Membership is open to all Filipinos anywhere around the world. Those in our native land are most welcome, and encouraged to have FUN in their lives.

How much is the membership fee?

Membership is free. There is no fee to join FUN. The only requirement is for all decent Filpinos, and non-Filipinos, who wish to join our crusade, to possess love of country (ours and theirs), the belief in the principle of justice, honesty and transparency in governance, and have the commitment to the fight against graft and corruption in government, to liberate the poorest of the poor who are drowning in the gutter of injustice and pervasive poverty.

What’s the fundamental objective of FUN?

The main goal of the Filipino United Network is provide the leadership, inspiration, and assistance from overseas to aid in the rebuilding and transformation of the Philippines and our people, by supporting Gawad Kalinga and other programs that are essential and vital in nation building. The ultimate objective is to make poverty history and restore the pride and dignity of the Philippines and its citizens as a nation and as a people.

Is Filipino United Network a political group?

No, FUN is not a political organization and is not campaigning for any individual candidate per. Its crusade is a war against graft and corruption among government officials, in all its branches, and fighting for the ideals and principle of accountability, honesty, and transparency in governance among our national, provincial, city, town, local government unit officials. Governor Ed Panlilio of Pampanga and Mayor Oscar Rodriguez of San Fernando in that same province, happen to spouse and practice such laudable style in governance, the reason why the Filipino United Network is inspired by these two leaders of honor and integrity to wage this revolution and change the political landscape in the Philippines. The Filipinos are sick and tired of the "kurakot, payola, and padrino" system of leadership among (at least the) majority of our officials. Undoubtedly, here are a few other officials in our government who have the moral ascendancy of these two leaders of hope. When FUN has duly identified and confirmed those other honorable government officials, this advocacy group will educate and rally our overseas Filipinos, and those in our homeland, and apprise them who the best qualified and morally upright candidates are, comes 2010 and beyond. The Filipino United Network shall serve as the vigilant advocate and watchdog overseas for the Filipino people around the world, including those at home. But it is not a political association in the strict sense of the word. It is an advocacy group for honesty in governance.

Is FUN, then, an advocate for the people?

Yes, besides being a humanitarian and charitable institution, supporting Gawad Kalinga in its laudable program to help the neglected poor Filipinos, the Filipino United Network is an advocacy group to help protect Filipinos in general. For lack of a better term, FUN will serve like a "consumer" advocacy group to ensure quality of "products" on the market, except that, in this case, the "products" are the candidates running for office or incumbent government officials. FUN wants to ensure the quality of these leaders or politicians --- that they are honest, accountable, effective, and transparent. Once FUN has confirmed these qualities, FUN will apprise and educate the Filipinos overseas and those at home as to who among the candidates or leaders have passed FUN's scrutiny and "carry the seal of approval" of the Filipino United network

The Chairman requested that he not be a signatory in the bank account of the Filipino United Network for the reason that he was the one who launched the Dollar Moral Crusade, and would rather not have access to the funds of organization. “To be credible and above any iota of suspicion in this moral crusade, I, as Chairman, have decided to waive the right to be one of the bank signatories for the FUN account, in order to make security in our accounting system as tight as possible, to merit and gain the full confidence of our supporters,” stated FUN Chairman, Dr. Philip S. No. Not one of them receives any salary, per diem, or any form of payment whatsoever. Their airfare, land transportation, and hotel expenses to the FUN Board meetings, local and long distance phone calls related to their FUN works, are on their own personal account and not reimbursed at all. FUN also does not pay for the use of some of their offices and supplies. The Filipino United Network is not spending even a single cent for any of the officers/board directors. Their time, effort, energies and funds are donated to FUN, gratis et amore. On top of this, they are also donors to our fund drives.

How does one know the FUN Crusade is not a scam?

It is really a leap of faith, a matter of trust and confidence in the people leading and running this moral crusade. Since fraud can take any form, this is a valid concern. But it is always prudent to do due diligence by checking on the legitimacy of the entity asking for the donation, the integrity and record of the officers and board directors of the group, in this case the Filipino United Network (FUN), and finding out where the funds are going to: in this case to Kampangan Marangal, Inc. in San Fernando, Pampanga, the main supporter of the campaign and principle of accountability, honesty and transparency in governance, as espoused and exemplified by the Rev. Fr. Governor Ed Panlilio. The other major projects of FUN includes Gawad Kalinga and Gawad Kalusugan.

All the officers and Board of Directors of the Filipino United Network are recognized professionals and distinguished leaders of various Fil-Am associations in the United States who have excellent track record and integrity beyond question. They themselves are major donors in this moral crusade, besides giving their valuable time and energies, and taking some risk to their life in an advocacy venture like this crusade.

Each donation is acknowledged by email, when provided, or by snail-mail. All contributors’ names are published on the List of Patriot Donors on the FUN website: www.filipinoUNITEDnetwork.com

FUN is inspired by love of country and compassion for the neglected poor Filipino people languishing in poverty. This advocacy group operates with honor and dignity, with accountability, honesty, and transparency, the very ideals and principle it is seeking and fighting for.
