Today, t he tremendous success story and credibility of Gawad Kalinga

has truly touched the hearts, minds and souls of most Fil-Am expats!
Acutely aware of the blessings that most of us continue to enjoy here
in America, we have every reason to believe that we all have a mission
to fulfill! We must help rebuild our Motherland! We do have the financial
resources, the intellectual capability, the experience, the skill
and the right connections to do what it takes to be of great assistance
to our Motherland! But to be a reckoning force and to multiply our
efficacy exponentially, we must be UNITED AS A PEOPLE with the determination
to bring about Philippine PEACE progress and true freedom from the
bondage of poverty, diseases, graft and corruption in our Motherland.
Without a doubt, harnessing the combined leadership potential of successful
Filipino professional groups in America and worldwide is the perfect
answer to this seemingly “impossible dream”.
The Unification of Fil-Am physician leaders in America is now a reality
through the recent creation of the Filipino United Network (FUN) chaired
by Dr. Philip Chua and the FALCON chaired by Dr. Primo Andres. Hopefully,
at this point in time of our lives, maturity, wisdom, altruism and
love of our Motherland can help us see the light beyond the tunnel!
The realization of our unification can definitely enhance our collective
ability to network with other medical and professional groups. Such
can expedite the upliftment of the Philippines out of its 3rd World
status as we intensify our common resolve to restore true democracy
to the Filipino nation.
And the time is just right! With most physicians and other expats
at or near retirement, the window of greatest opportunity to be counted
is right now! Yes, the greatest good that all of us can do together
as a people in the U.S. is within the next 5-10 years. If we do not
seize this opportunity to be an active integral part of Philippine
rebuilding, the golden age of true Philippine freedom may never come!
With the Gawad Kalinga movement, let us join hands to help the Philippines’
poor! WITH our moral crusade, let us overcome the challenges of dirty
politics! Together, we can rise above pettiness, “crab mentality”
and personal differences! United as a people, we can transform dreams
to reality, Reshape Philippine Destiny and Rewrite Philippine history
at its best!
